V: “We all have FACETS, we all go through PHASES and we are all going to be TRANSFORMED.”
B: “Wow, what a perfect way to put it!”
V: “There are 8 short stories included in the book. They are all experiences I have been through.”
B: “I know this is a hard one but what is your favorite poem and short story in the book and why?”
V: “My favorite poem is called “I love my nappy locks” because I’m proud of who I am at last. There was a time in my life when I thought I had to be someone else or to look a certain way in order to look beautiful. I went through a period of hair perms, hair relaxers and straightening irons.”
She read me the beautiful poem and I would like to share it with you all:
NAPPY LOCKS

I love my nappy locks
Twisting locking
Swirling curling
Naturally doing what they want to do
Nappy happy
Loving Mother Nature
No fuss no muss
Just being us
Tangling, flowing,
Knotting, growing
Naturally being free
Naturally freeing me
Embracing Mother Nature
I love my nappy locks
B: “Which is your favorite short story?”
V: “It’s called “Almost a Statistic”. It was a very frightening experience.”
She continued to recount the terrifying experience. I would love you all to pick up a copy of FACETS, PHASES & TRANSFORMATION and read this story. Its title is very fitting—“Almost a Statistic”
B: “Tell me about your second best story in the book.”
V: “It starts with the short story called “Lost in Seoul” and ends with “Saved in Beijing” I had the privilege of hearing these two amazing stories out of the author’s own mouth. I tell you I had goose bumps all over my body listening to her. When you read it you will know why.
We had a great talk about God and learning to realize that everything happens for a reason. And that if we just wait for the ‘storm’ to pass, we would find out why.
B: “What are your hobbies, what do you love to do?”
V: “I am 67 years old and I love to skate.”... Read On>
